Whittington Play Area
Whittington had an existing play area that was worn out and in need of revamping.
As part of this scheme the local children, residents and councillors were consulted to find out what they would like in their new play area. We worked out a design that would incorpoate natural play with fun and exciting equipment.
As the play area was to be for older children In conjunction with Shropshire Council we decided that the existing Toddler equipment would be revamped and moved certain items to allow a divide between the two age ranges. We used natural items such as Tree Trunks, Mounds and Boulder to create a Natural divide and also provide seating and socializing area.
The New equipment was put in to be different from more traditional play, so they had an overhead rail slide and single point swing which could be used by more than one child swinging and rotating. A climbing frame which had twisted Nets and spinning bars.
We were asked to fence the whole area in so that it was a self contained area where all children could play.
